The Brothers’ Lot: Irish Launch: June 15, The Gutter Bookshop, Dublin

The Brothers’ Lot from No Exit Press

We are delighted to announce that the Irish launch of Kevin Holohan’s acclaimed novel, The Brothers’ Lot will take place on Wednesday, June 15 at 6:30 pm at The Gutter Bookshop, a wonderful addition to Dublin’s Temple Bar, located on the corner of Cow’s Lane and Essex St West.  If gerography precludes your coming, please do tell anyone you know who might like to come.

This comic satire tells the story of the Brothers of Godly Coercion School for Young Boys of Meagre Means, a Dublin school run by crazed religious brothers.  The book charts how things start to go horribly wrong when the school comes under threat from mysterious inside and outside forces, which are only intensified when the Brothers fervently seize on a possible miracle as a stepping-stone to sainthood for their founder, The Venerable Saorseach O’Rahilly.

The Intrigued Reader: Is this something I’ll like?

Have a look and see what’s being said:

“A memorable, skillfully wrought, and evocative satire of an Ireland that has collapsed under the weight of its contradictions.”  -Joseph O’Connor, author of Star of the Sea

“Holohan’s writing seems informed by Frank McCourt, Flann O’Brien, and both Kingsley and Martin Amis, but he possesses his own distinct voice…this impressive debut is highly recommended.” – libraryjournal.com

“Terribly funny, this skillful debut pays tribute to the irrepressible spirit of all the rebellious young boys who would not give in to authoritarian rule.” –Booklist
